The lifetime of the battery of course heavily depends on usage patterns. For normal use, the battery should last at least one year.

The Remote Control communicates with the hearing aids using the 2.4 GHz frequency band.
You can change batteries without help from a HCP. The battery compartment can be accessed by opening the battery lid using e.g. a coin. The battery is a standard CR2032 Lithium battery.
No, there is no need for an on/off button since the Remote Control is totally dormant when no button is pressed. This reduces the battery drain to a minimum.
During development, tests were performed to evaluate the risk of accidental button presses. The fact that the buttons are concave and require a certain amount of force to be pressed, makes is unlikely that accidental button presses will be a problem.
A dedicated Flight Mode is not necessary since the Remote Control is dormant and will not transmit or receive any data at all, before it has received data from the hearing aids. The hearing aids should be in Flight Mode during flights, and subsequently the Remote Control will also be.
